1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
3 ½ tsp Vera Cruz vanilla extract or flavoring
2 cups flour
½ baking soda
½ tsp cream of tarter
Vanilla butter cream frosting Ingredients:
2 cups powdered sugar
½ cup softened butter
2 tsp Vera Cruz vanilla extract or flavoring
1 ½ tsp milk
Add food coloring or sprinkles if desired
Cream together butter and sugar, add egg and Vera Cruz vanilla; cream until smooth. In a separate bowl mix the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar; stir into cream mixture, mix well until completely blended. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour.
Roll dough into 1” balls and place 2” apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Lightly grease the bottom of a glass, press the cookies down into a flat shape. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are a golden brown, place on a wire rack to cool.
